The Guidelines in Practice readership survey highlights an interest in new and existing guideline implementation |
I would like to introduce myself as the new editor of Guidelines in Practice, having replaced Corinne Short who has been editing the journal since its launch in October 1998. I am sure that you will join me in thanking Corinne for the exceptional role that she has played in editing Guidelines in Practice and for creating such a valuable journal.
Following our recent readership survey, it is clear that our review articles on newly published guidance, and our coverage of the GP contract and QOF indicators, are of particular importance and interest. We hope that you enjoy this month's articles in which Dr Alan Begg discusses the recently published NICE guideline on atrial fibrillation, and Dr Andrew Orr reports on the epilepsy clinical indicators in our 'Implementing the QOF' series.
Our readers have also expressed a particular interest in articles focusing on the implementation of new and existing guidelines. With this in mind, articles on guideline implementation and examples of local clinical effectiveness initiatives will be featured in coming months. We would like to hear from you regarding your successfully applied local initiatives for this series.
We hope that Guidelines in Practice continues to support you in both the provision of evidence-based healthcare and the development of your own local strategies.
