Rivaroxaban for the prevention of venous thromboembolism after total hip or total knee replacement in adults

Summary:
  • Rivaroxaban, within its marketing authorisation, is recommended as an option to prevent venous thromboembolism in adults who are having total hip replacement surgery or elective total knee replacement surgery
  • Recommended treatment durations are:
    • 5 weeks for patients having major hip surgery
      and
    • 2 weeks for major knee surgery.
